Find Jobs and Post Your Resume at HotJobs
HotJobs carries the Alexa rating of it's parent, Yahoo, which is number 1 – the most visited site on the web. This is a bit misleading because the number one ranking is that of Yahoo, not necessarily HotJobs. Nevertheless, HotJobs still receives massive traffic. Many reviewers of HotJobs especially like its privacy features. It allows you to block specific companies from seeing your resume, which can be important if you're still employed and don't want your current employer to know you're job searching. As you might expect from a company that originated as a search engine, it has the best and most user-friendly search options. One very nice feature is that you can easily refine your search results further by the age of the job posting. This lets you quickly sort our only those recent job postings. You can sort out those jobs that posted today, within the last 2 days or 7 days or 30 days or 60 days. CareerBuilder also has this feature, but it's not quite as easy to use. Monster does not have this feature at all. HotJobs also allows you to more narrowly define locations in your search by including smaller towns as search options. As a hiring manager, I like this feature because it can result in very localized applicants. In addition, at $369 to post a job, it's actually one of the lower priced options available to me. On the downside, HotJobs seems to have more advertisements than the other big job sites and doesn't have quite the range of articles and resources. PROS - Best and most user-friendly search options
- Excellent privacy features
- Many flexible ways to narrow and filter your search results
- Don't have to register to use services
- Good newsletters for various market segments
- High traffic discussion boards
CONS - Can have too many advertisements
- Not quite the breadth of articles and resources of Monster and CareerBuilder
